Strumming up money for children’s charities in Andalucia

Strumming up money for childrens charities in Andalucia In a bid to raise substantial funds for local children’s charities in Andalucía, virtuoso Spanish Classical Guitarist Stephen Greenwood aims to raise awareness amongst prospective brides and party planners that his services can be contracted for a minimum donation of 300 Euros.

Semi retired from the London finance Market, Stephen has relocated his family to Sotogrande and is now concentrating on giving something back to underprivileged children, through virtue of his substantial musical abilities.

He recently raised 1.800 Euros from donations made from performing at four different weddings. All the proceeds went towards buying toys, so that the residents of the Casa Abril Children’s orphanages could have their Christmas wish list.

"I do private parties and anniversaries but the most popular by far have been my performances at weddings, both in the church and at the reception. There is something singularly romantic about Spanish Classical guitar music, that adds that extra meaning to those tying the knot in the country of its origin." says Stephen. "I do hope that by raising awareness of my performances for charity, people will consider hiring my services for their special day and in turn help make a change to these kid’s lives."

Fundraising that tugs on the heart strings

Strumming up money for childrens charities in Andalucia Recently relocated his family to Sotogrande, Classical Spanish guitarist Stephen Greenwood is determined to forge ahead with his unique means of raising money for children´s charities and other causes close to his heart in Spain – by playing at special occasions and weddings in exchange for a 300 Euro donation.

Stephen´s philanthropic activities back in the UK included substantial donations made to the Victoria & David Beckham Children´s Charity as well as to individual cases such as the mother of two in his old home town of Harrogate who became blind overnight and needed a specially adapted computer in order to be able to continue to support her family.

His repertoire comprises mainly Spanish Classical Romantic music from the C18th, C19th and C20th, which ideally lends itself to the romance of a wedding party or anniversary. He has studied classical guitar for more than 20 years and has won a number of international and local music competitions, the most recent of which was first prize in the Gibraltar Music Festival in the adult’s classical competition.

Stephen says “I find that now that I am semi retired from the finance industry I have more time on my hands to give something back to society through my music, while providing those who take on my services with a different and therefore more memorable music experience to the standard styles of music normally played at these special events”

Castellar castle classical guitarist calls for sponsors to cover costs of charity fundraising event

Philanthropist and internationally recognised Classic Spanish guitarist Stephen Greenwood who offers his performances for free in a bid to raise money for worthwhile causes, is looking for sponsors to cover overheads for a Spanish Classical guitar and Soprano concert on 26th June at Castellar Castle.

25% of ticket sales will go to the Victoria & David Beckham Children’s charity, 25% towards helping homeless children, 25% to UNICEF in Marbella while Castellar Town Hall, who are helping to stage the event, will be given the remaining 25% towards a local charity of their choice.

"In order that the full money raised from ticket sales can be destined 100% to charitable causes I am looking for sponsors for this event to cover some individual costs such as the fees of the soprano and the sound engineer, " explains Stephen. "In return the sponsor will get first refusal for tickets and their logo on the tickets and posters"

Now semi-retired from the finance market in the UK, Stephen, who has recently relocated his family to Sotogrande, donated all money raised from a performance to the Castellar zoo, paying for a new enclosure for two rescued bears whose plight had come to his attention. From monies raised from playing at several weddings (Stephen waives his performance fees in lieu 300 Euro donation) also recently raised enough money to pay for the entire Christmas wish list of the residents of the Casa Abril children’s orphanage in San Roque.

If you would like to sponsor the charity fundraising musical event at Castellar Castle on June 26th, please contact: Tel (0034) 687 347 397 or email stephen@stephengreenwood.org
